Giveback Initiatives

Now through March 27, UMCU will be partnering with Therapaws of Michigan to raise money to support their mission. Serving Washtenaw and surrounding communities, Therapaws of Michigan promotes and provides the therapeutic effects of the human-animal bond by placing qualified therapy dogs teams, certified with the Alliance of Therapy Dogs, at hospitals, health-care facilities, schools, libraries, and special events. Washtenaw Community College and the University of Michigan Credit Union have partnered to provide affordable financing options for students seeking non-credit Fast Track Job Training.

Michigan Medicine & M-Healthy

UMCU's partnership with Michigan Medicine supports members through wellness-focused financial services, employee engagement, and community initiatives that enhance healthcare access, education, and overall well-being.

UMCU also supports the M-Healthy program through our Financial Wellness Program, which provides financial education workshops to MHealthy participants.

American Heart Association

We proudly support the American Heart Association and their annual Heart Walk by annually raising awareness and funds to support heart health!

United Way

Every year in late summer, we host our Stuff the Bus campaign in partnership with United Way of Washtenaw County, to collect school supplies to donate to local school districts.

Wolverine Pathways

UMCU partners with the University of Michigan to help implement a financial education curriculum for U-M Wolverine Pathways, a free, year-round program that partners with the families, schools and local communities.

Ann Arbor Symphony Orchestra

The University of Michigan Credit Union and Ann Arbor Symphony Orchestra partner in Play It Forward, an inspiring initiative aimed at collecting gently used instruments and monetary donations to support public school music programs in Ann Arbor and Ypsilanti.

M-International & Michigan Engineering

UMCU proudly partners with M-International to support the financial well-being of F-1 international students at the University of Michigan-Dearborn. Through this collaboration, UMCU provides tailored financial education resources and account services that help students navigate banking in the U.S. with confidence and ease.

Empowerment Plan

UMCU is partnered with Empowerment Plan – a Detroit-based organization that helps homeless individuals regain independence by manufacturing unique coats that double as sleeping bags. Empowerment Plan has donated over 70,000 coats to homeless individuals worldwide!

Huron Waterloo Pathways Initiative

The Huron Waterloo Pathways Initiative (HWPI) was our 2024 Shop Local Give Local charity recipient. They are on a mission to connect people, nature, and the great outdoors through non-motorized recreational trails that everyone can enjoy - whether you're walking, biking, running, or just soaking in the beauty of Washtenaw County.

UMCU Youth Scholarship

UMCU's annual Youth Scholarship Program awards $1,000 to eligible high school seniors planning to attend college or trade school upon graduation.

Alternatives for Girls

Alternatives for Girls helps girls and young women experiencing homelessness and other risks. They provide access to support, resources, and opportunities necessary to be safe, to grow strong, and to make positive choices. In honor of our 70th anniversary in 2024, UMCU supported this charity by donating $7,000.

JG16 - Give Merit FATE Program

This was one of 10 charities who received $7,000 from UMCU in honor of our 70th anniversary in 2024. Detroit Lions Quarterback, Jared Goff, has teamed up with Merit to design and sell high quality products that help kids get to college. Merit's FATE Program currently supports 200 Detroit youth and students by providing work opportunities on real-life business projects, which allow them to discover that they can create their own futures.

University of Michigan Museum of Art

In honor of our 70th anniversary in 2024, UMCU supported this charity by donating $7,000. Our donation to the University of Michigan Museum of Art (UMMA) supported the Ypsilanti Community Schools Art Celebration in May 2025. This annual exhibition showcases the artwork of students from K-12.

Whaley Children's Center

This was one of 10 charities who received $7,000 from UMCU in honor of our 70th anniversary in 2024. This non-profit serves the Flint area and provides vital support, care, and love to at-risk foster children. Donations will help renovate the game room, a safe and welcoming space for mentoring, sibling visits, and downtime for the children served by Whaley.

SafeHouse Center

SafeHouse provides shelter and support for victims of domestic violence throughout Washtenaw County. In honor of our 70th anniversary in 2024, UMCU supported this charity by donating $7,000. Those funds helped sustain the 24-hour hotline, which provides critical resources to survivors of domestic violence and assault.

T. Wall Foundation

The T. Wall Foundation works with over 2,000 special needs families per year throughout Washtenaw, Livingston, and Wayne counties. This was one of 10 charities who received $7,000 from UMCU in honor of our 70th anniversary in 2024. Our donation provided financial support for winter and holiday needs for local families.

SOS Services

This was one of 10 charities who received $7,000 from UMCU in honor of our 70th anniversary in 2024. SOS Community Services is a community-based nonprofit dedicated to preventing and ending family homelessness in Washtenaw County. UMCU's contributions will provide families with essential supplies through the organization’s resource center.

Dearborn Goodfellows

UMCU's $7,000 donation in honor of our 70th anniversary in 2024, provided children and their families with gifts during the holiday season. The Goodfellows also provide year-round support such as school supplies, assistance during unforeseen situational emergencies, and scholarships.

The Guild of Artists & Artisans

UMCU proudly supports the Ann Arbor Art Fair! This beloved tradition brings half a million visitors to the city over the course of three days every July — and it has the distinction of being the largest juried art fair in the nation!

UMCU Student ORG Charity

UMCU's Campus Collective hosts an annual fall charity campaign to raise funds and awareness for the University of Michigan Student Organizations.

A2 Tech Trek

UMCU proudly sponsors A2 Tech Trek! This annual event showcases the many tech companies in the area and highlights why companies should invest in Ann Arbor.

Golf on Main

We're proud to support Golf on Main, an annual golf outing that supports children and families at C.S. Mott Children's Hospital.

Make-A-Wish Foundation

We donated $7,500 to the Make-A-Wish Foundation plus sponsored two unforgettable experiences for Make-A-Wish families.
